The Blue River Festival features a 10 kilometer walk/run every year. The festival is one of the more popular Shelbyville events of the late Summer and early Fall. The festival marks the transition of seasons and it helps celebrate the harvest. It also serves as a pleasant diversion in what would otherwise be a stressful time. The celebrations let people relieve the stress related to the start of the school semesters and the busy season. When the races are over, people want to know who won each event.I found some more information here.

The winner of the 10 kilometer walk/run gets published on the event-s website. Craig Lubbe took first place with a time of 40 minutes and thirty seconds. Jim Evans cam in a close second with a time of 43 minutes and six seconds. Rick Weaver cam in a close third. Weaver finished with a time of 43 minutes and seventeen seconds.

This years event may be over. Runners and joggers who want to join in the fun will have to wait for another year. If a reader just wants to know which runners finished well in the race, they have found information on the top three. The remaining top runners are on the webstie.

The 32nd Annual Bears of Blue River Festival was a whirlwind of music, food and fun. Held on the weekend of August 20th and 21st, the festival ushered out the summer with a splash. With plenty of games and activities for all ages, the festival is always a great family outing. The festival provides a true summer weekend that will create memories for a life time.

Starring hit country duo Cook and Belle, along with singer songwriter Casey Jamerson, the music kept toes tapping and toddlers dancing all weekend long. Great vocal talent and country music influenced by soul and gospel is the hallmark of Cook and Belle. Casey Jamerson is a young and talented country artist making a name for herself in Nashville at only 21 years old.

The annual 10K race had spectators cheering. First place went to Tom Webster, who finished with a speedy pace of 5:55 per mile. Julie Steenbarger came in first of the women, at a pace of 7:51.

If you missed this year-s festival, don’t worry! Just make a note not to miss the 33rd annual Bears of Blue River Festival next August, and start training to take part in next year’s 10K!

The Blue River Festival in Shelbyville, Indiana helps the local economy in several different ways. It is held once a year and draws in thousands of people who want to listen to fantastic blue grass music, shop the market place, food booths, flea market, and just socialize with people around the nation who love great music. The Festival also hosts a 5 and 10k walk or run as well as a parade and children’s days with kiddy rides and games.

Shelbyville has a population of about 20,000 individuals and is surrounded by countryside. The festival draws in people from around the state and the country into its town limits where visitors can enjoy the town atmosphere, visit the local shops and dine at the restaurants. The people coming in for the festival also need a place to stay, so the hotels in the area fill up rather quick as do the campgrounds and motor home lots. As the people come in for the festival, they help local businesses by staying at local hotels, camp grounds, motor parks as well as eating at local restaurants and shopping at the local stores. The festival can have a huge effect on the economy.
